This compressor is compatible with a wide range of coil springs, equipped with a 2-inch rod and a 4- to 14-inch jaw opening range, making it versatile for various applications. The specific usage steps are as follows:

1. Affix one leg of the tool, ensuring that the hooks on both ends engage the coil spring, and hand-tighten the bolt.
2. Affix the second leg of the tool on the opposite side of the coil spring in the same manner, and hand-tighten the bolt.
3. Apply the safety hooks to the spring with the flange and wing nuts, assembling them to each leg and the coil spring, with the wing nuts finger-tight.
4. Compress the coil spring using a hand tool or an impact gun with a 15/16-inch socket, turning each bolt alternately to ensure even compression on both sides.
5. Compress until the ends of the spring are completely free of the spring seats at each end of the coil, with a total compression usually not exceeding 3 inches.
6. Remove the upper bearing dust cap on the MacPherson strut to expose the piston rod nut, then remove the piston rod nut, upper bearing plate, and upper coil spring seat.
7. Remove the coil spring in the compressed condition and set it aside, exposing the shock absorber for repair or replacement.
8. Reassemble all components in reverse order, ensuring that the coil spring seats match the ends of the coil spring.
9. Loosen each leg evenly and allow the ends of the coil spring to contact the seat properly, then remove each leg. The repaired MacPherson strut is now ready to be reinstalled on the vehicle.
